Thankful Things

This weekend, as we sweat it out in the tropics, the kids and I are attempting to make it feel like fall.

As we practice eucharisteo together right where we are…..

we will be making one of these…..

Hi Joy – your ideas look fun and yummy! I did my grocery shopping yesterday – and put some things in the freezer for Christmas. Today, I’m heading to a tea room with a friend for lunch and then hope to do some more baking when I get home: banana bread, sugared pecans and pumpkin pancakes. Have fun! Love, Monica

I am spending the day with my daughter and GRAND baby and we’re going to go to some Christmas open houses. Still can’t believe the holidays are here!! Have a blessed weekend in Indonesia!

Fun!! I may have to do at least a couple of the things you mentioned! :)

Oh, and today we are taking our children to the “Hands On Museum”, which is just as it sounds. The children are allowed to be hands on with everything. :) I’m thinking during the week we’ll do some Thanksgiving fun things! :)

It’s going to be beautiful here today, so likely we’ll be outdoors enjoying the last of the warmer weather here in Missouri.

I love the fall colors on all of those pictures! It’s my favorite time of year. :) Enjoy your week!

Thanks for the reminder that even though it doesn’t “feel” like it should be fall time, there are ways to still celebrate! We are from upstate NY currently right near the Mexican border finishing up language study before we head back to our field in three weeks…yikes. LOVE your ideas. Oh, and this weekend, I’m trying not to freak out about all there is to do before we leave the US again!! :)

I am sweating it out with you Joy. Reached 90F today and it is so humid. Our air conditioning has been out of action for the last two summers so I was so thankful to go to church this morning where the air conditioners were going. My husband shared his testimony during communion. He doesn’t like public speaking but what he shared really touched a chord especially with the young people as he came from a non- Christian home and was saved at 18 at a beach mission but didn’t find any role models among the young people in the church he joined. They lived no differently to people in the world. He urged the young people to live lives worthy of Christ’s calling and to be role models to those around them. I was so proud of my husband today – it has just made my weekend!
Oh and happy Thanksgiving. It’s a holiday we miss out on but I am so looking forward to Christmas. Time to go and jump in the pool before I melt!

I love that thankful tree! What an adorable idea, I will have to try that in our home.

I’m finally just starting to think about what we’re gonna do this year. I don’t have a big wall for a thankful tree, and don’t know if I could manage to find branches… though I saw that one on pinterest too ;) I’m definitely printing the paper chains… just gotta find some craft paper… :)

cute! and yummy looking donuts! We have our own version of a thanksgiving tree on our kitchen wall…it’s not quite as pretty (made from brown paper bags with construction paper leaves!), but it was fun!

By the way, loved your previous post on finding the glorious in the mundane…my heart’s biggest fear on more days than not is that I’m missing something because I’m so “busy”…A friend of mine sent me the book “Mitten Strings For God: Reflections for Mother’s In A Hurry” last Christmas…it was a true “gift” in more ways than one…all of her essays revolve around this idea…

    thanks for sharing.
